Biofuel and Virgin Atlantic Airways Test Flight

Theres no doubt that air travel is a major cause of global warming and emissions. Constantly on other eco-websites, alternatives are being discussed about a more eco-friendly form of air travel that will have the same idea, just less pollution. At the fore front of this discussion, lies Richard Branson. Mr. Branson has made some interesting comments in the past about the future of his airline, Virgin Atlantic Airlines, and how they will be incorporating biofuel into future flights.
Virgin Atlantic Airways is planning to use a 20% of algae-derived biofuel in a test flight later this month. The fuel will be fed to an independent engine that will not mix with any of the fuel going to other engines. There will be limited crew and the flight is destined to arrive in Amsterdam from Heathrow Airport in London.
Its great to see Mr.Branson following through on his word, and there is no doubt that there is a future for this form of fuel in planes, trains, and automobiles (haha I’m sooo funny…for those of you who saw the movie). The big question is how are we going to bridge that gap of 20% to 100%?
Keep it Green,
Paul
