All Natural Bug Repellent, Just in Time For The Long Weekend

So here comes the long weekend and theres no doubt that, like many other long weekends, people will be making the commute “up north”. Thats right nature get ready for the bombardment of cars, boats, jet skis, and fishing. Now I’m not gonna lie, I love going up north to beautiful cottage country, but there are many things people can do to lessen their impact on that sacred ground.

Besides naming the obvious things people can do to help keep nature the way it is I have come across a great list of natural repellents that keeps those pesky little bitters away. Thats right, people want to enjoy nature while keeping part of it away.

Over at Grist, they have put together a list of all natural insect repellents that do not contain DEET. Developed by the U.S. Army for use in jungle warfare during World War II, DEET is considered a moderate chemical pesticide and a few studies have shown it to be toxic to some fish species. DEET also works as a solvent, dissolving some plastics, synthetic fabrics, leather, and painted or varnished surfaces. And we put this on our skin?

So heres a few of the named repellents that you may want to consider for the long weekend:

Keep it Green,

Paul
