Turn Your Burger Into Fuel!

Theres no doubt that San Francisco, if not all of California, is ahead of the curve with regards to environmentalism. All things green are coming out of there, but there is definitely some great steps made from all over the world. So we can’t give all the credit to California, but this next one is a beauty.

Biofuels have been taking a rather large hit lately due to the recent food crisis, and there is some warrant to the some of the accusations. Its rather obvious that the be-all-end-all to our problems is not ethanol and there needs to be a collective solution to the fuel problem. One of those other helping hands to the solution is biodiesel via grease. It’s not a new idea and its great to see the possibility of this fuel coming to the forefront. Just recently San Francisco announced that that the city had received $1 million from the California Energy Commission to build a pilot grease-to-biodiesel production facility. Thats right all that grease from the millions of restaurants can be turned to clean fuel.

The plant is set to be completed by December of 2008 and you can learn more about the plant here and here.

New Thoughts With Gore’s New Slide Show

The brief hiatus is over, and posting has once again commenced! Today, I come bearing Al Gore’s new slide show on global warming. Allot can be said about Gore’s previous slide show and the impact it had. This new slide show, I believe, is hitting the nail right on the head!First shown at the TED (Technology, Entertainment, and Design) Conference in early April, the new slide show is much shorter in scope to fit the available time line of the conference, but is expressing direct ideas and objectives that have to be met to solve this crisis. Instead of taking the approach to inform on the issue, much like Gore’s previous slide show did, the new slide show takes a small step towards explaining what needs to be done. One important focus is that , yes steps must be taken at home, but it also highlights the importance the political ring plays in solving this issue. If you can’t already tell, I was quite impressed with the direction and overall presentation of the slide show and I would love to hear from anyone about their thoughts on the show.

Keep it Green,

Paul
